Relaxation Massage

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage is effective in treating a variety of conditions such as pain, stiffness, headaches, athletic injury rehabilition and repetitive strains. Can include deep tissue work or lighter pressure strokes - please specify your preference. CranioSacral Therapy (CST)
CST is a gentle method of evaluating and correcting the cranial wave, the most subtle of the rhythms of the body - the two more obvious ones being the breath and the heartbeat. The therapist uses exquisitely sensitive and exact hand pressure to restore balance to the cranial pulse, thereby assisting the body's natural healing mechanisms and enhancing the balance of all other systems of the body. CST is very effective in treating a host of conditions including TMJ, migraines, vertigo, traumatic injuries, chronic fatigue, learning disabilities, colic and neck and back pain. Advance Therapeutic Massage Clinic is proud to have on staff some of the most highly trained and experienced CST therapists in Saskatchewan. (1 hour treatment required) Therapists: JoAnne Hartney,  Marian Ward, Dianne Fraser

Myofascial Release (MFR)
Our therapists' training is in the John Barne's method of  Myofascial Release, a non-invasive approach of softening the restrictions in the fascia or connective tissue. Extremely beneficial in reducing stiffness, pain and postural dysfunctions. Myofascial Release treatments can include Myofascial Mobilization, which is a quick, firm technique used to break down long standing fascial restrictions. These treatments sometimes lead clients through an Unwinding process, which releases restrictions through unravelling-like motions that move the body spontaneously through a range of motion. (3/4 hour treatment or longer required) Therapists: Dianne Fraser, JoAnne Hartney, Chrystal Stevenson

Reflexology
A thorough and satisfying foot treatment that relaxes foot and body tension, improves circulation and restores equilibrium by stimulating the body's own healing processes. It utilizes pressure points in the feet to stimulate corresponding organs within the body, thereby unblocking the body's energy and restoring overall health. Therapist: JoAnne Hartney

Prenatal and Postnatal Massage
As each trimester brings many new changes to the pregnant body, massage therapy can be an effective part of prenatal health, helping women make a smooth transition through this fluctuating period of their lives. Massage increases circulation and the flow of lymphatic fluid which can reduce swelling in the limbs and lower blood pressure. As the abdomen grows, many women experience hip, back and neck pain as the pelvis tilts forward and soft tissues elongate to balance and support the gowing baby. Massage is soothing and effective in bringing relief from pain and many common conditions associated with pregnancy. Following childbirth, mind and body are rejuvenated as new moms enjoy some well deserved rest and relaxation. A blend of specialized massage techniques can balance pelvic assymetries from pregnancy, labour and delivery. Massage can be instrumental in reducing strain on muscles and connective tissue from lifting, holding and nursing a new baby. All Therapists; Additional certification: Tammy Bickner, Chrystal Stevenson, Nikki Poissant, Claudette Halverson

Hot Stone Massage
Smoothly polished lava stones are heated in water to varying degrees of warmth, then incorporated into a soothing massage treatment that uses the warm stones as an extension of the therapist's hands. This therapy is extremely effective both in stress reduction and in resolving chronic conditions because it blends traditional hydrotherapy benefits with modern massage therapy to provide long lasting results. Because heat has an amazing ability to release tension and relax muscles, Hot Stone Massage is the ultimate in stress relief. Therapists: JoAnne Hartney, Shelley Edwards, Tammy Bickner, Chrystal Stevenson, Nikki Poissant, Claudette Halverson

Chi Nei Tsang ("chee nayt song")
Of ancient Chinese origin, Chi Nei Tsang is a holistic approach to massage therapy with the goal of integrating one's physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects. Chi Nei Tsang literally means 'working the energy of the internal organs' and uses principles of Tai-Chi and Chi-Kung. Certified therapists work mainly on the abdomen with deep, soft and gentle strokes to train the internal organs to work more efficiently. Effective for detoxification, elimination, tension reduction and immune system strengthening. (3/4 hour or 1 hour treatment required) Therapist: JoAnne Hartney

Infant Massage Program
Through a series of five sessions, babies and parents come together in a small group setting to learn a full body baby massage. Traditional Swedish and Indian massage techniques are combined with yoga and reflexology principles to create a routine that benefits infants by encouraging relaxation and relief from various conditions. The classes are a blend of informative instruction, hands on massage practice and discussion. The program assists parents to better understand and enjoy the individuality of their infant while enhancing the bonding process. Pediatric Massage
Massage can be effective for all children whose parents are interested in a well baby lifestyle with the aim of enhancing the healthy development of the child. In addition, research has shown that Pediatric Massage has many benefits for children with minor ailments such as premature birth, anxiety, colic, poor sleeping habits, torticollus (stiff neck), scoliosis, acid reflex, TMJ, among others. Studies indicate that massage can improve weight gain, neurological development and alertness. Our treatment approach is to follow the lead of the intelligence of the child's system and by using a combination of gentle modalities tailored to the individual and their condition, achieve improved functioning and a more balanced state. Appropriate for babies, toddlers, children and early teens. Therapist: JoAnne Hartney

Thai Massage
Thai Massage is an ancient holistic therapy that uses flowing motions to open, energize and balance the body. The receiver of the massage remains completely clothed and receives the treatment lying on a cushioned mat on the floor. Tension is released by the therapist using their carefully controlled body weight to apply pressure into the tissue through their thumbs, palms, knees and feet. The treatment consists of a gently rocking rhythmic movement incorporating a combination of compression, acupressure, mobilizations and muscle stretching. In this way energy flow along the sen meridian lines is stimulated, revitalizing tissues, joints and organs. Through Thai Massage muscles become elongated, joint range of motion is improved, thus tight areas are opened up, leaving the participant with increased vitality while deeply relaxing the body and mind. (choose from 1 1/4 hour, 1 1/2 hour or 2 hour treatment)  Therapist: Dianne Fraser
